Some cities in Canada are experiencing a surge in acts of violence on public transportation; this has prompted calls to put mental health and addiction treatment facilities within 500 metres (~540 yards) of major transportation hubs. Research by S4A investigators at the University of Connecticut shows treatment centers near transit stops save costs and improve access.
