The New York City Macroscope is an innovative population health surveillance system that uses electronic health records (EHRs) to track conditions that are important to public health and are managed by primary care practices.
Progress on the current project to assess the external validity of NYC Macroscope indicators and provide guidelines for how they can be adopted by electronic health record surveillance systems in other jurisdictions will be presented. Specific activities completed to date assessing the construct, internal, and criterion-related validity of the Macroscope indicators will be described as well as the project’s preliminary results.
