Overview
Dr. Mays was invited to speak at the Ohio State University College of Public Health in Columbus, Ohio. In this session, he described new empirical approaches for classifying and comparing public health delivery systems based on their organizational and network characteristics. Using these classification systems together with quasi-experimental methods for causal inference, he and his team estimate health and economic outcomes that are attributable to improvements in public health delivery systems. Results indicate that strong systems contribute to sizable gains in health status and slower rates of growth in medical costs over time.
