Past S4A Calls for Proposals
Systems for Action released nine calls for proposal (CFPs) over the course of the program. While some requirements in the proposals changed over the years, every CFP required applicants to propose a novel mechanism to align financing and/or delivery systems across the medical, public health, and social services systems in ways that improve health equity. Systems for Action will conclude its operations as a RWJF research program in December 2026 and will not release another CFP before then. Over the years, S4A funded a variety of different types of studies. These include:
- Pilot Studies aimed at evaluating the acceptability, feasibility and potential impact of their proposed systems alignment intervention. These projects are funded at amounts of $100k-$200k for up to 12 months.
- Impact Studies aimed at evaluating the impact of their proposed systems alignment strategies on relevant measures of health and wellbeing for affected populations. These projects are funded at amounts of $300k-$500k for between 24-36 months.
- Collaborating Research Centers which conduct systems alignment research, as well as support other S4A grantees by offering mentoring on access to data resources, research design, and communication and dissemination mechanisms. Three Collaborating Research Centers were funded between 2016-2020.
All of S4A's past CFPs are available to the right. See below for more information about each CFP released through the S4A program and to explore which research grants were awarded funding each call.
