Redemption and Advancement Alliance

Redemption and Advancement Alliance (RAA) is located in Atlanta, Georgia and works to advance opportunities for people experiencing poverty, mass incarceration, and reentry in ways that promote personal and financial success and social equity. RAA's systems alignment intervention is the “New G Movement” articulated in the founder's published book by the same title. This project will build cross-sector integration and coordinated strategies with representatives from the criminal legal system, health care sector, educational systems, workforce development partners, and reentry and cultural healing community based organizations. Additionally, this initiative will bring together a Circle of Experts - individuals with experiences in gang involvement and/or incarceration - who will advise, co-design the New G program directions, refine implementation of the model, and support cross-sector systems alignment. RAA received $97,500 through the Equity Capacity Building Grant mechanism and their grant activities will include:

  • Pilot Program Launch: two to three cohort-focused classroom sessions, each comprising 5-10 participants, will cover content related to trauma informed care, civic engagement, education in entrepreneurship, and navigation of systemic structure.
  • Development of an evaluation framework in partnership with research consultants.
  • Convening of the Circle of Experts to strategically formulate plans for the development of additional programs and organize a national assembly.
  • Develop a branded media platform to include a website, social media channels, and documentary-style videos to enhance public narrative and understanding of the New G Movement.
