YWCA Madison

The YWCA Madison in Wisconsin operates housing programs that are designed for those most impacted by systemic racism and other forms of oppression. They have been awarded $60,000 through the Equity Capacity Building Grant (ECBG) mechanism to build community members’ power. YWCA needs community input in determining the priorities for additional supportive services that will lead to improved health and well-being in their single women’s permanent housing, Third St. housing program serving single women and their children ages 2-5, and family shelter program. This ECBG funding will also support trusted partners, UBUNTU Research and Evaluation, in capacity-building and leadership development training sessions, engaging resident leaders and key staff to create a vision for how to best move toward collective well-being. They will also define how to collect data for their community’s needs assessment and disseminate the needs assessment findings to public health, behavioral health, and other social service sectors that interface with the residents of these programs.
